My Dad worked with a British guy captured by the Japanese, he ended up in Burma, I'm sure you know the story. He could never forget what the Japanese did to the captured men and hated them until the day he died. My wife's Uncle was almost beheaded by a Japanese soldier, he survived playing dead, his wife hated the Japanese until she passed. One of my best friends is a Japanese Canadian, during the war his family was moved to a city in the interior of BC called Greenwood, they were free to move around the city but they lost everything. Moving people of Japanese decent from the coast was based on fear of invasion and racism. I don't think Germans or Italians living as citizens in North America were affected by the war, not by the Government anyway.
