Not sure what your point is. The fact of the matter is we evolved on a diet that included not so fresh meat as a component. So what might kill another mammal, especially a herbivore, people can choke it down and usually not die from it.

That we can now afford to just throw food away was an unimaginable luxury for most of humanity even in recorded history, much less the times we got Darwinnowed.
