TAVA/Buyout: The WNDR deal surfaced buyout speculation (again), which has been a recurring theme on the thread. About 10% of the companies I've featured in the newsletter the past several years have gotten buyout offers. Since I write mostly about overlooked/undervalued situations, I decided to look for other common characteristics and see where TAVA stands. About half had factories, made goods. Not TAVA. A retail good/service (candy, garden supplies etc.) scored high. Not TAVA. Only one had a capitalization somewhat approaching TAVA's in complexity. No matter how I grouped and regrouped the bought out companies, I couldn't form a group that shared substantial common characteristics with TAVA. I couldn't make a case for TAVA being a ripe picking based on other small cap buyouts.

<<< Citibank has announced they expect their cost to exceed 600 million dollars. >>>

Can you give a reference for this? Thanks,

Wade

Robert...

Nahh... It's all BS. Just ask Bill Wexler.... <wink>

Actually, I believe Sen. D'Amato posed the question to AG. Greenspan used to be a programmer, I've heard, so has a better ability to grasp the enourmity of the problem.

However, he is also the most powerful man on earth and must maintain his calm demeanor. Would you want to be responsible for a panic??

Nahhh... This stock market will continue to climb until we see the first systemic failure or we see some SEC filings expressing doubt about certain companies being able to fix their 'lil 'ol computer bug.

But if Citibank is spending $600 million, I guess that means we can jack up the global price of Y2K on average.

Regards,

Ron

To all:
Sort of off topic.
On one of the threads (maybe this one) someone mentioned a new mutual
fund dedicated to y2k stocks. If anyone can tell me the name it would
be much appreciated.
