the only person I know with dual citizenship is a second cousin who is a crook and if he comes back to Canada will probably be arrested

Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, just introduced a bill to ban Americans from holding dual citizenship.


First, that's not what that bill (which won't pass, anyway) states, if you'd bother to read it. Voluntarily acquiring is not the same as holding.

Second, it's not retroactive.

Third, in my case, my dual national status results from my mother being a native born US citizen and registering my birth at the US Embassy in London.

My father was a citizen of the UK and later became a naturalized US citizen. I've been a dual national since birth and legally hold passports from both countries. That will not change, as that proposed bill does not apply to my status..
