We'll have to disagree on this one. I've been doing some reading from people who have had to deal with Trump and they say the best approach is to stand up to him rather than trying to appease him by backing down the way Carney has.

It's the same with any billy. Backing down merely extends the torture, while if you stand up to him he quickly loses interest and moves on to bullying someone else.

I still can't figure out why Canada and the US Democratic party aren't running wall to wall ads across the US describing the damage the tariffs are doing that people see every day in their wallet.

My only hope for this pipeline to BC debacle is that Carney thinks it will never get a proponent wanting to build it so in effect he has given Alberta nothing, but that is not a certainty. And he has really harmed his and his party's standing with BC, with Canada's large and very active environmental movement, and with First Nations. The latter are contemplating withdrawing already given support for the other big infrastructure projects due to the pipeline proposal.
