A referendum of the people overrules the constitution. First settler people are a small part of the people of Alberta. According to the map, Albertan first settlers have already ceded legal title to their land claims.

There is always the option of war. Who will go to war if Albertans decide to separate from Canada?

The case of an Albertan separation is the same as a Quebec separation. The courts have no say.

rotflmao...... Fake news: Today’s court ruling has no negative impact on Alberta’s path to independence. It does not limit the Alberta government’s authority to call an independence referendum. The decision only addressed defective wording in the Citizen Initiative Act—an issue the government has already fixed with Bill 14.
