One of the best and funniest stories ever heard was a savvy friend of mine and mother of three, said up until her kids were aged 4-5 she would take them to the dollar store and call it the toy store! She and her husband do well but they travel a lot on family vacations, and she determined early on not to waste money on toys for kids they won't even remember. I thought that was hilarious and lovely!
