FYI. From Ogrady's: "One PowerPage reader cautions that just because Apple appears to be OEMing Main Street's 56K modems from Global Village, it doesn't mean that they will support GlobalFax:

Apple has been [OEMing GV modems] for a while with desktops (the 6500's almost all have a GV internal modem). The thing is, they do not come with GlobalFax software (although you can upgrade to that software for a cost) or the cool GV control panel that puts modem status in the menu bar. Instead, they come with an OEM'd version of FaxSTF. The version of FaxSTF on the 3400/G3's is the same thing. Apple is probably using FaxSTF with everything because it's a fairly generic piece of software, and much cheaper than licensing the software that whatever individual modem manufacturer might bundle. The benefit is the quality of GV modems, although you don't get any of the bells and whistles. What you can expect is a reliable, fast connection."
