Russia has been engaged in a hybrid war with the EU for decades now. From sabotage to assassinations, Putin has been waging a shadow war. By siding with Russia, the odds of such a war going hot go way up. Since he was elected the first time, I have felt it likely we would do stupid military tricks like renting our forces out to the Saudis or intervening in Ukraine on Russia's side. The latter would most likely being to enforce a "peace agreement" that heavily favors Russia. Like what is on the table now.
