Vancouver is definitely a Foodie oriented city. They have a whole bunch of Food Tours. I recommend the Granville Island Food Tour.

I appreciate the culture and the people. Quite liberal and Canada is oriented toward taking care of its citizens.
Universal health care.

Vancouver does have a large Homeless population and that is quite sad. With that said, we never felt unsafe in there even walking through large groups of Homeless people.

Vancouver is not cheap and probably more expensive than most of the US. Once you get out of the city, prices drop off somewhat.

Our experience with the people shows a basic level of friendliness and actual helpfulness.

The weather is relatively mild given the latitude and it doesn't get super hot in the summer.

Finally, It is not the US.
