If you ever read much about how the rise of Hitler, the parallels are stark. Up to and including the attempts to turn Charlie Kirk into Horst Wessel. The cult of personality that both built are strikingly similar, also. The same excuses and defenses, along with the rock-solid belief that when one of Dear Leader's leopards start ripping off their faces, a personal appeal will fix it.

We aren't talking about broad similarities that can be debated if they are applicable or not. We are talking about the same concepts and ideas. Often, the same wording and actions. It is almost like someone wrote one of those alternate histories where instead of being set 1920s in Germany, it is set a century later in the US.

Only cut to run on TV. As Krugman notes, they are operating on a compressed schedule. Instead of playing out over years, it gets squeezed down to months.
