we just followed Washington's lead as usual, They think they know what China would do because they (Washington) know what they do and have done. Gee, I hope China doesn't topple our dictator. Really, I hope they do.

There was also hubris that China is incapable of catching up, that it would take decades to catch up, if ever. Another interesting tidbit from that is that it seems that China was able to bring many ASML employees to China, some under hidden identities. Probably most of them of Chinese heritage, who were employed in Europe by ASML or its suppliers. Which also crushes the idea that all these migrants / immigrants to Europe are contributing. It seems that the migrants in Europe, who are not there as rapists, are there to steal intellectual property.
