Jim -- The latest issue of Science, the premier publication of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and probably the top rated science journal in the world, devotes its entire issue to artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and how large language models can be created with more concern for carrying on a conversation than for presenting factual evidence and non-discriminatory views. The European Union has adopted at least some form of regulating AI misinformation, but the U.S. has actually gone the opposite way, relaxing regulations on accuracy in favor of an overall hands off policy, especially when the issues involve, health care costs, tariff related cost of living changes, jobs data, and cryptocurrencies. Everyone should be skeptical of AI generated financial and market views, along with views on underperforming stocks like Qualcomm, whether or not the publisher admits using AI generated data. AI is becoming so important in financial and economic forecasts using or misusing copyrighted material that The New York Times has filed a lawsuit charging at least one Ai source with copyright infringement of NYT articles. On the other hand, AI has been shown to be very helpful and cost effective in, for example, finding protein cells that can combine, or be stopped from combining in order to create new molecules that have an impact on cancer treatments or preventing the spread of malaria.
