*AV*--No, I haven't lost my enthusiasm for Art and neither was leaving off LRCX or UTEK from the list. UTEK deserves to have my enthusiasm diminished. However, neither LRCX or UTEK have enabling technologies worthy of note for the emerging IC technologies to the point they deserve to be included on the list.

UTEK-great MEMS and DD and possibly Reticle making potential for their equipment. But these are not IC volume related and will take time to penetrate. The only thing worthy of note for enabling technology is P-GILD for the masses. This unfortunately is too far out in the "market proce appreciation" future and will be a small part of their business unless it ramps quicikly.

LRCX-true that they have the HDP systems and the ONTK post CMP clean station. As with a great deal of things, they will be second fiddle in the HDP arena so the 500lb gorilla is where I would be. The ONTK post CMP clean system is a favorite of mine and is positioned well with the likes of IPEC. LRCX is off the list because of its recent difficulties and how that may be translated and perceived by potential buyers of new technology from them. Remeber, they are exiting a technology and just sustaining it for certain customers that might need to finish a cycle of implementation at respective locations. No new business will be solicited or attempts to engage in new business. This is a black eye in my estimation.

So as much as they both might deserve to be on the list, I have to admit that it was not a mistake on my part keeping them off. I have shared those reasons and now it is up to you and others to decide for yourself if they are valid.

Thanks for pointing it out to the group. It allows me to respond and provide more information to evaluate.
