Tenchusatsu, Good post. For once, I agree with you 100%. A decent, honest person, the kind we both know should be involved in politics, would not last long anywhere in Eastern Europe, especially in Russia or Ukraine. The same people who ran communist Russia are now running capitalist Russia. It is just as corrupt as it was then, and the same is true of Ukraine. The culture never changed. It is the same mafia-style system in charge of both countries. When Rome fell, the administrative class simply transitioned into running the Catholic Church and carried on comfortably for more than 2,000 years. Take the money and run, power and control are the only things on their minds. Long-term planning rarely extends beyond surviving the night and deciding what’s for breakfast.
