Not really, It is how the world responds to a pandemic. Just look at the response to the Spanish Flu, if you think the COVID reaction was extreme. Or read up on Typhoid Mary. Or the Black Plagues. Or...

Just because we no longer have people routinely dying from infectious diseases doesn't mean it can't happen again. Vaccinations have been a key tool in that. But when a disease becomes a pandemic, then other measures are taken. Some of them have been proven effective over centuries. Like social distancing, read up on why The Decameron was written, masks and quarantining.

Your stance seems to be "it is raining, but my umbrella is keeping me dry. But if I am dry, why do I need the umbrella?".

You want to ditch the umbrella.
