Bob,

I like the short interest growing too. I'm guessing it has to do with the latest insider selling. I don't worry too much about it though. You can never know why they sell. Insider buying on the other hand is almost always a great sign.

I wish I knew how the quarter was going! I'm guessing the new highs will bring more people into the market and induce them to trade more. I wouldn't exclude OptionLink when evaluating EGRP, this is a big part of them expanding their services. 401K, employee options, mutual funds, insurance and more are here or coming soon. Most people don't realize that. E*TRADE wants to be a lot more than a online stock broker.

I too would like to see an update on how business has been lately. I think they presented or are going to at the Robert Steph. conference this week. But, I haven't heard anything. I'll post if I hear anything.

E*TRADE will suffer if the market tanks. It's just the business they are in. However, I personally don't see this happening this year. I really believe we are in for another good year in 98. Only time will tell.

Alex

why are they so quiet recently? maybe because they are
in the mid of a takeover talk? just my wild guess.
i'd be happy with $40 a share.
