Most of the silver concentrate are bought from the mines, allowing the mines to book a silver-credit on profit n loss statement, reduce financing needs, and keep focused on whatever they are mining as primary biz. The silver concentrates are of course priced at silver market price less discount.

Whatever toll-processing is no longer viable day after tomorrow. Must remember, China is largest user of silver, not coincidentally.

The action is more about controlling resource and not about value extraction above / beyond whatever is commercially sensible.

I shall double-check.

Yeup, I understand the situation correctly… and, oh, yes, <<Lololissimo>>

Q: Re the silver processed but not mined by China, are the silver concentrates bought and paid for or on toll processing?

(The answer by Manus is detailed and covers 25 years of history w/r to biz models development of China silver, but below serves purpose for now …)

and re <<more happy talk. Any analysis that doesn’t take toll processing into account (like yours) is seriously flawed, as is the analogy to rare earths.>>

here be the rest of the analytical happy-talk in the account but I could not be bothered to post earlier from phone

can you not see it? the prospective formation of OPEC-esque coalition of the willing but for silver where the global-south wins 'uge ?
