The short certainly could be one cause of the recent strength. He could be gradually covering. This would provide some support.

<<TEKTRONIX: Tektronix to demonstrate 8-VSB broadcast measurement
technology at NAB '98

Presswire - March 03, 1998 15:10

TEK ZE V%M2 P%M2PR

M2 PRESSWIRE-3 March 1998-TEKTRONIX: Tektronix to demonstrate 8-VSB broadcast measurement
technology at NAB '98 (C)1994-98 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

-- Technology will be used to perform required transmitter measurements

Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK) today announced that it will demonstrate significant new 8-VSB (eight-level vestigial
sideband) broadcast measurement capability at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) '98 Conference and
Exhibition in Las Vegas, April 6-10. At NAB '98, Tektronix will show a set of measurement capabilities and an
accompanying user interface that will be used to conduct the complete suite of tests required to install, maintain and
monitor an 8-VSB transmitter.

While digital transmission will enhance TV broadcasting with features like HDTV and data services, more care will
be required to ensure that the highest quality signal is available to the consumer. The Tektronix 8-VSB measurement
technology prefigures the user-friendly, cost-effective solutions that broadcasters need to make the transition from
analog to digital television. "The 8-VSB measurement capabilities will be required by all broadcasters in the United
States as they implement the new ATSC DTV standard," said Dan Terpack, President of the Measurement Business
Division.

"The Tektronix 8-VSB test suite will be important to broadcasters as they develop their digital television broadcast
deployment plans and begin transmitting DTV signals beginning later this year," said Gary Sgrignoli, staff consulting
engineer at Zenith Electronics Corporation. "Tektronix is demonstrating its commitment to the ATSC standard and
the development of DTV."

Zenith (NYSE:ZE) developed the 8-VSB digital transmission system adopted by the Federal Communications
Commission as part of the ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) standard for terrestrial DTV
broadcasts. Tektronix collaborated with Zenith on the 8-VSB test suite to create a system that is expected to be a
reference for compliance with the ATSC standard.

Tektronix will be showing the first test suite designed exclusively for 8-VSB measurements. The demonstration
features remote control capability and the familiar Windows 95 interface. The demonstration also features a
graphical display of signal quality measurements similar in format to those of the industry-standard Tektronix VM700
measurement system.
