That's stupid. "Total control"--what does that mean? Put people in the street in jail? Force people off of Danish laws and benefits and onto the poor US security net? Are they going give the people in Greenland Congressional representation? Two senators and a Congress Critter? Or treat them as second class citizens? Are they going to force Greenlanders to accept being "part of the US", whatever that might mean?

Why should they accept that?

This is not a difficult concept to understand.

It is to those who haven't drunk deep of the bullshit.

Like this

It is essential for protecting ourselves from higher and higher missile velocities already possessed, and getting faster, by Russia.

Russian missiles capable of striking the US have gotten no faster. Now and for the foreseeable future, those missiles are ballistic missiles. Which are going to all be traveling at more or less the same speed because of, you know, gravity.

Powered hypersonic flight over the distances needed to strike the US from Russia are the province of scramjets at the moment. Which Russia isn't considered to be the world leader in, to put it delicately. The two countries that have done the most work in the field and is closest to getting it to work both speak English as their first language.

But, for the sake of argument, let's assume Russia has been testing scramjets with the necessary range and has gone into serial production. Why is having "total control", please define this BTW and TIA, any better that unlimited basing rights? Other than pissing off what once were staunch allies, that is. This is a real headscratcher.
