You are correct, Sir. If you have enough room on your hard drive, you don't need any type of supplemental devices to do this.

Assuming you have a lot of room available on your hard drive, yes, yes, yes. Any fixed hard drive, internal, external-- whatever-- will be better than a removable. Faster, Cheaper, more reliable.

Do like the pros do. Record and edit off of fixed hard drives. Backup to tape, CD, or removeable disc. Archive to tape or CD (or removable disc if you have $$$ to burn).

If you want the data to still be there 50 years from now, go with CD-R.
