Marco what was— What are you saying here?" an addled-sounding Trump asked, holding the note up. Rubio fidgeted and turned away uncomfortably, gesturing at Energy Secretary Chris Wright. "Mark... Mark if you can update us on operations in the ground and with the appropriate approvals, what you might be able to achieve in the next twelve to eighteen months," said Wright. "Give us a little view from the ground." The Chevron executive then delivered what appeared to be a pre-prepared spiel about the oil juggernaut's operations in Venezuela. Clearly, Wright and by extension Rubio had been directed by their oil puppeteers to drive Trump's attention to Chevron. The bizarre exchange highlights Trump's worsening senility as well as the fact that this administration is completely bought and paid for by the fossil fuel lobby. Oil executives say "jump" and these officials say "how high?" It's worth remembering that Trump met with oil executives at Mar-a-Lago in 2024 and urged them to donate $1 billion to his campaign in exchange for favorable policies once he was president. As demonstrated by his unjustified, nakedly imperialist attack on Venezuela, he's now making good on those corrupt promises.
