Tucker Carlson Dumbfounded Why Iranians Protesting Most Amazing Government On Planet

Politics · Jan 9, 2026 · BabylonBee.com

U.S. — Political commentator Tucker Carlson expressed confusion after learning that the Iranian people were protesting their own government, saying he was absolutely dumbfounded as to why they would rebel against the greatest government on the planet.

"Iran is among the greatest governments in the world, only Qatar really comes close — and it's much smaller, obviously," Carlson said. "I'm just completely dumbfounded. The Iranian people are literally voting against their own interests — except that they can't vote, actually — which is a good thing by the way."

Iran's current wave of protests began at the end of December and was reportedly sparked by a collapsing economy. As protests spread across the country, it evolved into a pushback against theocratic authoritarianism and calls for regime change. But according to Carlson, it's really about gay marriage.

"Iran is a beautiful country. I'm looking for property there, myself. Homosexuality is outlawed there, did you know that?" Carlson said in an interview with longtime friend Megyn Kelly. "I don't understand why the Iranian people would protest one of the most conservative countries in the solar system, maybe even the whole universe."

According to inside sources, Kelly didn't quite see eye to eye on the subject but was afraid to say so. Instead, she explained she was now supporting the Iranian government 100% because the protestors didn't like it. "I will not raise the fist," she said. "Even if it's for an obvious good."

At publishing time, Tucker Carlson had purchased a small mansion in Tehran.
