What do you mean:" under no obligation"?

That is not the point, the point is what is responsible administration, and best for society.

Do you think like Trump we should go back to coal-lol!!?

What Trump has done by shutting down so much green energy is put our children in peril by global warming, and put the US way behind China in EV production who is cleaning our clock!

The point of EV is to save the planet by getting away from fossil fuels!

How can you not know that?

combjelly:" The person who has done the most to kill the EV industry in the US is Trump. That is a bizarre comment.

inode:" Taxpayer (and Trump) were under no obligation to keep funding EVs. And while that surely hurt Musk in Q4, Tesla is still in business, has a better balance sheet than any other EV maker today, and Tesla will be close to breakeven for last year in spite of it (eyeballing it quickly, a $2B loss), which is a hell of a lot than other American automakers are doing (I think Ford took about 20 Billion on its EV operations in Q4, and GM was in the 10-millions range, I think).
