Why do you suppose DVD has a shot at replacing video tapes?

have you been following the screwups with the DVD standards committee? I have only been reading Forbes and Business week, but it sounds like there are AGAIN 2 camps for DVD ram, and 5-6 other interested parties kibitzing (like hollywood and music labels).

With 2 possible standards coming out, and 3 versions which may be incompatible, and a move to make 3 continental versions, all incompatible...

I don't foresee DVD being a force in the market for a couple of years. Thats DVD ram...

Its not technology, its politics.
