ACEI: I guess Kanga Roddy could be the next Barney, but I think Barney is actually a pretty sophisticated production. It's targeted at very young kids. It projects a very simple message but well tailored to the developmental stage of the target audience.

>Pat Morita is not a nobody.< I think that's true. He's a genuine celebrity and projects a likeable image. IMO He's the best thing that this effort has going for it. I think that the peak of his celebrity has passed, though. Of course this Kanga Roddy thing could be just what the career doctor ordered, although I doubt it.

They got Morita by bailing out his failing karate school empire. If you were desperate would you agree to play second fiddle to a character in a kangaroo suit? You betcha! Anyway he probably figured that even if the show really stinks it will only be shown on daytime public tv in the SF market, so what can it hurt.
