Is it fair to assume that someone who reads widely, has no particular ideology (as a wry example, a liberal Democrat who no longer supports Clinton), and makes decisions on issues one at a time, is perhaps more likely to stay intellectually alive and vital during the aging process than someone who long ago made most of their major decisions about belief systems and values, and is just plodding along predictably?
