If it were Gates, wouldn't it have been 640K, which was a severe limiting factor with DOS for years? I still think Kenneth Olson came out with a similar gaffe.

Re Intel and Compaq stock prices, the TA's are saying we ran into a Bollinger Band, while the AMDites are partying over rumored better AMD yields and, of course, that should trash Intel. I agree about Compaq, though. I don't know how they are going to swallow DEC after just buying Tandem last summer.
