Trump should abandon Democrats’ push to ban investors from buying homes

The problem seems to be that private equity observed a reverse migration of the Great Black Migration to the North that started 20 years ago and has been buying up starter homes in many of the destination cities. Atlanta is one of those cities facing a severe shortage of affordable homes. In some neighborhoods, the companies own up to 30% of the homes. It's up to the jurisdictions to impose on the builders to incorporate restrictive covenants to limit the concentration of ownership in a community as a condition of the project being approved. It would also solve the problem of high rental rates and vacancy rates (>10%) in these corporate-owned communities.
