The smart money can always profit from scams like this. The suckers are sucked in and get left holding the bag when the smart money heads for the exit.

What he is doing is to acknowledge through Tesla that

a) Most people do not need a car and it makes no sense for them. We continue to own them because that is the way it has been done for the last century.

b) Younger people will opt out of car ownership in the future. Not all, but most.

This is affected by low cost of self-driving taxis (compared with traditional or Uber), by the concept of the 15-minute city concept evolves, which it will.

I bought car last year because our old one was totaled. Insurance alone is $225/month. Most people will have a payment amounting to $500 a month, and that much capital is tied up either way.

Why do I need to spend $725 a month not counting the car wash when an e-Taxi can get me anywhere I might need to go for a couple bucks?
