A bit OT: Jensen did give them CUDA and from that he milked his GPU cards for all they were worth.

DirectX originally did it for Nvidia and AMD. I never understood why that was such a protective Microsoft moat. CUDA took on a similar vein and for some odd reason all the OpenCL efforts failed.

You are right that Jensen was successful mostly due to the efforts of others with the exception he was the one best at milking his products within both these moated environments.

On this front Aryl has a good point. Tan not so much especially around a Gaming/AI moat. Tan was good at milking the various moats he acquired and especially again in the field of obsoleted software.

Both Huang and Tan also came with solid street connections. Without these financing their growth would not have been near as easy as it was. Financing is always more than just money.

This is on topic: The financing of Qualcomm - share.google

Stock was handed out like crazy once CDMA was approved. Took a decade for that selling to get cleared. PJ handed out stock like crazy too.

Well, catching three peaks one after the other is either extreme luck, really good vision or probably a bit of both...

Gaming, Crypto and AI....

Nvidia rode all three hype cycles.. never had a major down time....
