It almost seems that politicians - while saying all those nice, heartfelt things - are looking at humans as fungible participants in the economic process (which, of course, generates taxes and pays for government jobs). They need working bodies - and what their race or culture or religion etc happen to be - is unimportant. They can’t have enough workers the natural way - they’ll import them. I think, deep down they are cynical people.

It’s not going to work - people who created successful societies did so because they’re products of their culture. People are not fungible.

I think what will happen is they’ll destroy some traditional societies - and they’ll do it just in time for automation and robots taking over many jobs - and the lucky migrants will live in the West happily ever after. They may in time largely displace the native populations.
