I can rationalize going to shows for [insert famous group name here] where at least one of the original band members remains, but I have a hard time with "tribute" bands. The obvious exception is if these knock-offs at least add something else to their act, e.g. a laser show for Pink Floyd.

Now, if someone wanted to be entrepreneurial, they could buy the rights to a given band, do auditions, and launch "officially licensed and authorized" tours. For example, if the Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, etc. were to enter into such an agreement, I truly think people would flock to these shows.
