Gary,

I was just told about the stock performance today, but as I've told others, I think LCI is keeping a very low exposure to the local loop precisely because they expect to be purchased, no matter what they are saying publically. Companies associated with the local loop will always do it better than companies dealing with with call transport outside the LATA. Next to MCI, I think the best-managed such company is LCI and it is only a matter of time before someone else decides they need them. BTW, notice that MCI is throttling back their local loop exposure; why should they even care now that they'll be associated with MFS? At least it's a stock you can hold and still sleep at night; I think it is a very well-run company.

Regards,
Dave
