Right now there is no such thing as a reliable short. Man, there was news that they are trying to pass a bill to charge state tax on internet purchases, you would figure that wouldn't be looked on too favorably. Yet Amzn +6 7/8, go figure. Talk about speculative. What the hell is going on with these internet plays. People talk about Dell being overvalued! At least its growing revs, and income at above its P/E rate. Whew

I just looked at novell. I see long bars on the weekly chart, which I guess makes it a good short term trade. It looked to me like it was a "week trade" as opposed to a "day trade" stock.

Below it the technical analysis from Market edge:
COMMENT
Moving Average Convergence/Devergence (MACD) indicates a BULLISH TREND
Chart pattern indicates a STRONG UPWARD TREND
Relative Strength is NEUTRAL
Up/Down volume pattern indicates that the stock is under ACCUMULATION
The 50 day MOVING AVERAGE is rising which is BULLISH
The 200 day MOVING AVERAGE is rising which is BULLISH
LOOK FOR SUPPORT AT 8.26

RECOMMENDATION
STOCK IS A BUY

I am thinking that I'll wait for the TA to look down and try a short for a week. Are you going to play it?

Barbara,

We have been buying NOVL for the past couple of weeks, and was lucky to catch the rise in it! We like this company as a turn around situation and also like the balance sheet with all it's cash and very little debt! A couple of programers that we know recommended that we buy some on the new program they are to release that will help individuals and businesses design their own web pages for the internet! Very impressive volume on the up days which tells me something more than rumors are going on! My 2 cents for what ever it's worth!
