Steve, et al

I didn't say I was leaving..... I was attempting to provide information to all on the thread which might help us to better understand why YURI may not be taking off. I'm not too much into TA so instead I presented information more of a fundamental nature... That is, there is competition out there. BIG competition. Competition from companies in the ATM CPE market and from companies developing other technologies. I'm told by some on this thread that this competition doesn't make a difference and that YURI will still grow, unabated, for the forseeable future. Many companies have or are developing/announcing ATM CPE products. Many companies have bet millions of development dollars on multiservice on IP or frame - some of these companies are quite large. We can all choose to ignore these facts or not. But having a further discussion to simply rehash the same arguments does not serve the thread well. We can talk all day long about what IS - ATM is QoS...or we can talk about what will be... Which is??? What I'll do here is post a few URL's for those that are interested.

Competition (ATM CPE)
newbridge.com
nortel.com
cisco.com
micom.com

Competing Technologies
micom.com

vocaltec.com
frforum.com (bottom of page)

There's much much more, but I've gotta run. I'll be back tomorrow.

Good luck to all. Nice day today in the market 'eh!

Gary

Steve,

O.K. Back for a while.

First let me say thanks to Larry for the great idea of "calling" our positions. Let's hope it works as this stock moves as it should rather than as those with selfish interests would have it. I've called my position as well.

Second, Steve... I said I'd add a few more interesting tid-bits about competitive "stuff". Again, this is for information purposes only. I'm assuming most of you are aware of these companies or events. I'll preface each URL so that you can choose to ignore the ones that are of interest.

Qwst announced nationwide "toll-quality" VoIP Network
biz.yahoo.com

USWest announces pact with Cisco to deliver IP, Frame relay, and ATM Services. Voice on IP is mentioned. This article clearly shows how many RBOC's aren't betting on one technology - yet.
biz.yahoo.com

Microsoft on ADSL. Most of what's interesting here is that the devices mentioned are all IP today. Moving them to something else COULD be problematic.
biz.yahoo.com

ADC Kentrox WorldCom win.
biz.yahoo.com
ADC Kentrox selected by LU as vendor of the year (incl ATM access)
biz.yahoo.com
Kentrox announces AAC-2, inexpensive low-end access concetrator
biz.yahoo.com

Nortel...another win.
biz.yahoo.com
A little background on the new Nortel switches
biz.yahoo.com
There's lots more on Nortel, feel free to take a look...

Xedia...sheesh! ATM access with IP QoS. Steve, I think this is what you've been saying. This product does it. Take a look.
biz.yahoo.com

Motorola, interesting little piece on IP telephony.
biz.yahoo.com

There's a whole bunch more. I'm not sure my pulling up old releases is a worthwhile effort....so I'll leave it to those that find this stuff interesting and neccessary to making good business decisions to take it upon themselves.
