Joe,

If IBM will have rights to sell "IBM K6", they will undercut AMD prices

Have you thought of that it might be IBM ME decided to claim their rights on two generations of NexGen processors by starting from K6-3D to K7?

AMD might said that K6 is no longer have similarities with NexGen processors. However, NexGen might have sighed an extremely poor termed agreement with IBM ME to exchange the X-license protection and NX586 fabrications. At that time, NexGen did not have too much choices when dealing with IBM ME at all. As all great Corporate America, IBM has the most difficult attorney team to beat.

Thus, I suspect that the co-production talks might be no more than legal negociation on IBM ME rights claims. Anyone put money on AMD should be extremely cautious for this issue. I hate to see if it happened in this way.

Don't buy Intel processors! In stead, buy the processors from its competitors to keep Intel from long-term monopolizing x86 processor market while maintaining health competition and the PC innovations.

Joe, I agree, but AMD might run a bit farther. A fab deal with IBM is like being in a cage with an Anaconda.
My question to Bob was what happens to NSMs FAB deal with IBM if IBM takes on AMD? Does that squash any chances of NSM getting any state of the art .25u process technology? Does that put the 6x86MX on third teat behind the power PC and K6?
IBM is the clear winner here. Along with CPQ and DELL who is first in line for chips from INTEL if Intel makes price cuts sooner than later in reaction to any AMD-IBM deal...
IBM must be laughing all the way to the bank while using everyone elses technology...or more like milking the cow without having to buy it...
