ibm suggested that they would be reducing their Power-pc production and that they are not willing to go head to head against intel which may mean that ibm might be more agreeable on their take.
There was also some article about expansion of foundry deals in Asia. While there were no specifics about amd the article was listed under amd.
You're right about 97. Amd is a bit slow but it's getting there

Fuchi, All - more news and even better (hard to imagine)
news coming from bloomberg and states that
1)amd and ibm at fairly advanced stage of negotiation that started few months ago.
2)yields are improving as well
3)after market price of amd is keep climing
4)ibm agreement is broad to cover production of k6 and future chips
5)ibm is to extend agreement with NSM as well
