Ed, I believe you said it. "When you talk about inventory, what products are you talking about? High end servers, or PCs? "

Treating "INVENTORY" as all the same is really a mistake. But, how do you tell these guys that a fairly stuffed ProLiant rackmount runs over $100K. And how do you tell them that a retail store version desktop is a lot less than $1K.

ed,

re: "today's downgrade is good for CPQ, as it break the trading balance of the past couple of weeks"

Interesting .... do you know which broker Compaq uses exclusively for processing ALL employee stock options? Well, to my knowledge for the past ten years it has been ..... Smith Barney!

So I wonder if this is a favour Smith Barney is doing Compaq, or perhaps Compaq changed brokers recently and Smith Barney weren't all that happy.

Can any current Compaq employees on this thread advise if Smith Barney still Compaq's broker for employee stock options?

Paul T.

Talk about manipulation, you are the king of manipulation! You take every bit of news, as bad as it may be and put a positive spin on it. Every time the stock sells off, it's "manipulation." The downgrade was "good," because it broke the trading balance. I suppose it created a nice buying opportunity, too. Baloney! The downgrade was not good and I don't want a buying opportunity. I want the stock to be upgraded and the share value to rise. I suppose that you're glad that you bought CPQ instead of DELL, too. Probably because DELL is "much worse" and you could get "seriously hurt" by owning it. Well, I'd like to have bought DELL 3-4 weeks ago @ 90 and own it today @ 130+! I've never heard such bunk, but then I don't believe in the Tooth Fairy, either. BTW, I have a sizable long-term investment in CPQ with a 2-5 year time horizon, barring any fundamental changes, and have great faith in the company, but...puuuuuleeease, Ed...give me a break! Stephen
