That is right. Using the free sample again, if you take the sample without buying anything, then the sample is a free sample. But if one out ten people who take free sample buys the product, then the free sample is paid off. It is not really free for that person who bought the product. It is free for you this time, but maybe after you take several free samples and like the product, and you may buy the product later or recommend it to other people, then the free samples are paid off again. You see, it is that simple.

In this world, nothing is really free, even you may get someone's charity money for free, you will feel owe that person and that person will feel the satisfaction of helping others. All those feelings are priceless. So it is not really free money either.
