Off Topic: IBM, AMD shake on chip deal news.com

Sheesh, a rumor yesterday, done deal today. I post this as a followup to an old discussion from last fall, when AMD's production problems were becoming clear and I noted it was too bad the K6 design had fallen to AMD instead of IBM. Spice up that K6 with a little copper, whip out that super-socket7 100mhz bus, currently due ahead of Intel's, maybe we'll have a high end horse race too.

Or, maybe the proprietary lock will triumph in the end. It's a necessity in business, you know.

Cheers, Dan.
