Michelle, >>>The reason for the allegiance to the character mode client is speed. Some order entry people need to enter an order every 5 seconds. Its just not possible with a mouse based gui of any kind.<<<

Thanks Michelle for some perspective from someone on the scene. I was only trying to point out to some of the folks here who think that we have all the processing speed that we will ever need that there is a huge world (much bigger than people who fool around on the Internet with some WP and spreadsheets can possibly imagine) out there for computers that are cheaper, faster, and more powerful than what we have now.

I am sure there are armies of people out there, like yourself, that are trying to make programs such as order entry (etc...) faster, easier to use (cut down on training time),with more functionality, and more useful information to give companies a competitive edge and that you are nowhere near where you want to be.

For example, if touch screen and voice recognition were cheap enough and fast enough you would find ways to use it in a minute.

I would think that a few seconds faster here and there and or to be able to cut down on the time it is needed to train someone without any special skills on how to use it - that it would be a big deal for someone like yourself.

My main point however is that that market you are in is humongous(sp?).

Thanks for the info.

Mary
