If there is one thing I notice it is the birds when I am outside my home.In past months a great horned owl turned up often in a specific tree. Now when I go out the first thing I do is look for this impressive bird. The bird was like a sign to me .The tree is dead in the top branches providing a perfect lookout. It would perch there and I would think how long will it survive. I could'nt explain what I think this meant to me but I enjoyed seeing this bird. THE Sightings were usually interrupted by an attack by large black birds...they would chase the owl away everyday and watch as it disappeared being attacked in midair. The owl has not been around and I determined that it just moved on.Recently I looked for the owl and a rare woodpecker had established a residence and for some reason it was strange to me.I thought what if the owl comes back. Before long the woodpecker was gone and a black bird was inhabiting the hole were it had been while another perched on the lookout....I can remember wondering if I would see either bird again or if they were gone forever.
