Jay:

Glad to answer your questions...

1. Being that you are a Senior Technical Analyst with apparent exceptional analytical skills, please describe the SOES trader's unique discipline and talent that you feel is beyond your ability. (what is lacking in the wannabes)

It appears to me that people that succeed at day trading fit in 3 categories:

(1) Intuitive lightning quick pinball wizard Level II jockeys - I've seen these guys, they are wild. Usually young guys with a lot of confidence and brave enough to withstand a brutal learning curve.

(2) Fundamental News oriented traders who scan the wires and tried predictable bounces on surprising news to up and down side.

(3) Seasoned technical traders who really understand how the market works.

I've decided that I don't have the ability for the first, the desire for the second, or the knowledge and experience for the third.

2. What is your investment style: day trading, short term, options, long term?

I've been a long term investor and have been experimenting on the intermediate side. My research into trading is teaching me that I must master intermediate term trading before I can confidently time the market in the shortest time frames where it must be perfect.
