IS A Y2K CORRECTION DUE ?
In the last 5 days the net value of my highly margined Y2K portfolio has increased 28% which would not be unlike anyone posting here investing in Y2K service stocks. Thus far this year my total $ gains are over 70% of my entire 1997 gains where my portfolio on a percentage basis gained 5 times the percentage gain of the IBD growth portfolio. The market is expected to have a bad day today as a result of the Intel prewarning of weaker than expected first quarter earnings. I have only one stock to take profits on because of my strategy of trying to hold Y2k stocks long enough to qualify for long term capital gains tax rate. I expect to realize a 34,000$ after tax dollar gain today on close to a 250% gain on a market order to sell my position in CHRZ.I had hoped to hold it longer but decided to sell as I believe I can invest at least part of it in a way where I will gain even if the market declines sharply. This will be a first for me if it happens as I have gotten creamed in all previous market corrections.
