Lml, You may not be an expert, nor am I, but your thought process is to be loudly applauded. Thanks for your posts. I'm on my way out, so in short, I know your a DIMD holder, and in regard to DIMD, at this point (which of course is subject to change), I feel in the long term the i740 does not bode well for DIMD. Frankly, the only reason the i740 exists at all, is because Intel had to pick up the ball where others had dropped it. And the only reason it isnt' being implemented on the motherboard is that the die size is too large at present. Once on the motherboard, who needs an add-in card with the same chipset, and there's the question of whether Intel will make the supply available. It's better to obsolete the mb and sell another chip ;-) At $500 and below, how many VCRs or stereo systems have you gone thru? If I'm a box maker, I buy mbs from Intel, I buy the intel graphic chipset on the Intel mb. If I'm an upgrade consumer or business user, I buy nvidia, I buy Banshee or I buy ATI depending upon my needs. I see DIMD being dependent upon these chipset makers and Intel's chipset not relevant to earnings. If the manufacturing deal DIMD made yesterday is in regard to the i740, I'd love to know the term of the agreement and the option clauses. 3D will sell more CPUs, the i740 is the chipset makers whip. Why has Intel not bought Real 3D?? I think they're not in it for the long term. Forgive me none of the above thoughts are complete, gotta go. Also, what do you make of the volume in DIMD lately? I wonder if its TDFX spillover? Not enough of those shares to go around w/o driving the price skyward.
