Are you really sure about that??? From what little I know about LUCENT- You may be right BUT I believe that NEWS of an internet server should have received ALOT of ATTENTION from the industry. So far- the only systems that have been operated on a trial basis have POOR quality sound <garbbled with a delay> I
hope that someone on the thread who has heard the SYSTEM in use could report back to the thread with an UPDATE . I heard that AT+T should be rolling out into the Internet Telephony Industry in the early to mid-summer. The expected price of the Long Distance call would be a few pennies MORE than the other <poorer quality>systems
BUT these "pennies" mean nothing to Big Businesses when QUALITY of voice is the priority in Communications especially Long Distance communications. In closing, please bring ANY info that you may find relative to the LUCENT thread for all of us to read. Thanks.

PS I expect that maybe as soon as NEXT WEEK, we should hear about possible contracts with either Primeco and/or Sprint and/or TWO Japanese companies regarding wireless equiptment orders.
AND as Summer approaches/ we should be hearing talk about supplying AT+T with various internet telephone equiptment as AT+T prepares to enter THAT market.
To all shareholders of LUCENT/ Have a nice week-end.

I've heard that the internet-telephony servers will soon be "obsolete" as there is pending legislation to put tariffs on this as-yet-untapped source of tax revenue, if for no other reason than the telcos screaming "foul!"

If enacted, the differences (primarily cost) between this and conventional long-distance evaporate.
