I understand the way IBM trys to milk their x86 partners so I do not expect much of $$$ benefit from the deal. But amd needs financing and ibm can help which worth a lot to amd. Intels itself can run only that long on Paul's hype before stockholders would want to see the beef, so to speak. IBM deal is good for that too.
I would be very surprised if amd is not in negotiations with umc and tsmc for one thing or another. Let just wait and see
