<<I don't know about anybody else out there, but if the machine doesn't say INTEL INSIDE I don't want it at any price. I may be paranoid but I (and I'm sure alot of other people) feel that the quality just isn't there in a machine with a AMD chip and a bootleg motherboard inside. I'll pay the extra $ for peace of mind.>> This, I'm afraid, is shortsighted. Not to prefer Intel's cpu, but to think that AMD cpu's won't run as well and/or reliably with hardware and software. 'Intel Inside' is great, and it does indeed represent quality that has shown flexibility (e.g., stands up well to overclocking). However I am not aware of studies which have shown that AMD cpus (which pass the quality testing) have a shorter lifetime or higher propensity for failure than Intels [let me have it if there is such a study]. And the term 'bootleg motherboard' is odd as well, implying that if the motherboard isn't either made by Intel or running an Intel cpu, then it's a 'bootleg'. Many high quality motherboards have been designed and manufactured which can run either Intel or AMD cpus (I realize we are witnessing a motherboard divergence now due to the PII). If I were responsible for a corporate server, I'd absolutely insist on an Intel cpu. If I didn't already have an Intel cpu system at home, and someone gave me an AMD machine for free, I'd be surprised if it gave me any trouble attributable to the cpu. I guess what I'm saying is that IMHO, AMD is not likely to incur reputation damage due to the performance of systems in operation. I may be wrong, but I judge from what I've seen. By the way, my portfolio says 'Intel Inside'. It might someday say AMD inside as well, but only if/when they show they can profitably design, manufacture, and sell their products. Randy
