T A,

Henk's message was fairly clear.

One has to keep in mind thought that the Europeans have a different standard than the North Americans. In NA, in terms of speed,a T1, DS1 or PRI(Primary Rate Interface) are all 1.544Mb/sec. In Europe the speed is 2,048Mb/sec. North America, there are 24 64Kb channels per facility. In Europe there are 32 64KB channels per facility.

In NA BRI talks to 2B+D or 2 64Kb channels + 1 16Kb data channel for 1 Basic Rate ISDN Interface. A Primary Rate Interface has 23 64Kb channels plus 1 64Kb data channel which is used to multiplex all those other D channels.

...

Not that I know why, or if, anyone really cares.

Ian.
